Prime Minister Imran Khan lays foundation for Mohmand Dam

In a historic moment today, PM Imran Khan performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the much hyped Mohmand Dam in Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

Former chief justice Saqib Nisar is also present at the occasion alongside Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda and Chairman Wapda Lt. General Muzammil Hussain(R).

Mohmand dam will be constructed on the Swat River and shall be completed by 2024 at a cost of over Rs183 billion with a storage capacity of over two million acre-feet. After completion, the water body’s power generation potential is expected at 800-megawatts and the annual energy production of 2,862 GWh.

Mohmand Dam will also bring 17,000-acre barren land under cultivation after completion solving water scarcity problem and saving Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera districts from floods.
