Prime Minister Imran Khan pays tribute to Tipu Sultan on his death anniversary. Pakistani premier has praised the 18th-century Muslim ruler of Mysore for preferring to die for freedom rather than “live a life of enslavement”.
As 4th of May marked the 220th death anniversary of the tiger of Mysore, PM took to Twitter expressing his sentiments.
“Today 4th May is the death anniversary of Tipu Sultan – a man I admire because he preferred freedom and died fighting for it rather than live a life of enslavement,” wrote PM Imran Khan.
It is not the first time when Imran Khan has praised the valour of the famous Sultan.
Earlier in February, while addressing the joint session of parliament convened in the wake of the heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the Pulwama attack, PM Imran Khan lauded Tipu Sultan’s gallantry.

Sultan is not only famous for his bravery. Tipu Sultan valiantly fought in the fourth Anglo-Mysore War but was killed during the siege of Srirangapatna as Tipu Sultan refused to escape through the secret passage, advised by the French military advisors.
Tipu Sultan is not just famous for his gallantry, he is also well known in history for introducing a number of administrative innovations during his rule, including his coinage and a new land revenue system which in initiated the growth of the Mysore’s silk industry.
Tipu sultan is also considered the pioneer in the use of rocket artillery.
