The Punjab government has started considering a complete lockdown in cities with high rates of coronavirus, including Lahore, report.
Punjab on Thursday reported 2,674 coronavirus cases and 103 deaths.
The provincial total is 298,818 and the death toll is 8,327.
As being reported, in this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar in which the current situation of Corona was considered.
According to sources, it was suggested to the meeting that before Eid-ul-Fitr, a complete lockdown should be imposed in all the cities where the prevalence of the coronavirus is high.
The special cabinet committee will make a final review of the proposal and make final recommendations.
These recommendations will be presented at the next meeting of the National Command Operations Center (NCOC).
The provincial cabinet was briefed that the number of positive cases in 23 districts of Punjab has increased to more than 8%. The participants of the meeting expressed deep concern over the rising number of cases and deaths due to the global epidemic while concerns were also expressed over the violation of SOPs.
The meeting decided that further sanctions were necessary to save the lives of the people. It was informed in the briefing that the number of corona patients has increased in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala.
On the other hand, more than 1 million people administered the coronavirus vaccine in Punjab.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid shared the update in a tweet.
