International community condemns attack on PTI leader Imran Khan.

PTI chairman Imran Khan survived an attempted assassination on Thursday during the long march in Wazirabad.

Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan was shot in an assassination attempt. As reported he was hit several times in his legs but survived and is out of danger. He is now being treated at Shukat Khanam Hospital in Lahore.

The international community including, Canada, the US, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and others have strongly condemned the “assassination” bid on former prime minister Imran Khan and urged all sides to refrain from violence.

Canada

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the attack on PTI chairman Imran Khan, saying that it had no place in politics, democracy, or society.

“I’m wishing a speedy recovery to Imran and all who were injured today,” the Canadian PM said in a tweet on Thursday.

 

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Foreign Ministry has issued a statement condemning the attempted assassination of Imran Khan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the attempted assassination of Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

 

United Kingdom

UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs James Cleverly in a statement has said that the attack on Imran Khan is “regrettable.”

The foreign secretary said that it was condemnable that the PTI’s convoy was attacked which also lead to the loss of one life.

“We express sympathy with all the victims of the attack,” he said, adding that “there is no room for violence in politics”.

United States

 

An official statement was issued following the attack on Imran Khan on Thursday from the White House.

The White House said it “strongly” condemns the attack on former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was shot in the shin when his anti-government protest convoy came under attack in the east of the country.

“The United States strongly condemns the attack on Imran Khan and his supporters and hopes for the swift recovery of all who were injured,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Furthermore, US Secretary Antony Blinken also condemned the attack on former premier Imran Khan.

In a tweet he urged all the political parties to remain peaceful, adding that “violence has no place in politics”.

 

Organization of Islamic Cooperation (#OIC)

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (#OIC) expressed its strong condemnation of the assassination attempt on Imran Khan in a series of tweets.

“The General Secretariat reiterated #OIC’s firm position against all forms of violence, extremism, and terrorism in whatever its forms and motives,” the statement said.
“The #OIC stands with the Islamic Republic of #Pakistan against any threat to its security and stability and extends to it and to its people wishes for stability and prosperity,” it added.

 

 

 

Türkiye

Turkish Foreign Ministry statement said, ” We condemn the attack on former Pakistani PM Imran Khan and extend our best wishes to him. We wish God’s mercy upon our brother who lost his life during the incident. Türkiye will continue to stand together with our friend, Pakistan.”

Norway

The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also condemned the attack on former PM Imran Khan.

“Our thoughts go to those affected by the violence. All violence and hatred are devastating to democratic politics,” the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
