Internet connectivity disrupted in Pakistan due to Submarine Cable Fault on Tuesday.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on Tuesday notified that a dual cut in the terrestrial segment of South East Asia–Middle East–Western Europe 5 (SEAMEWE-5) — a submarine communications cable system that extends between Singapore and France, has effected the internet servies in the country.
The distance between Zafrana in Egypt and Karachi in Pakistan is reported to be approximately around 3,427.84 kilometers.
PTA said that alternate arrangements to provide uninterrupted internet services to the users have been made.
While the work is underway to remove the fault.
This is the second major internet connectivity disruption amid the cut in the under sea cable this year. The last one occurred in February.
Meanwhile, NetBlocks — a global internet monitor — in a tweet notified that the internet disruption has impacted multiple countries including Pakistan, Indonesia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Yemen, Oman, Somalia, and Chad.
