Irish Band U2 Under Fire for Announcing Concert in India

Irish Band U2 has come under fire from Pakistanis on Twitter as it announced a concert in India. As the last part of U2’s The Joshua Tree Tour 2019, the band will be performing in Mumbai on December 15.

Given the current situation of Kashmir where over 8 million people are living under hostile conditions and deprived of their basic human rights, the concert announcement came as a contradiction of the band’s role in human rights activities throughout the world.

Several Pakistanis took it to Twitter to raise concern over the band’s decision and called out its lead singer Bono, for his otherwise human rights activist and philanthropist personality.

Some Twitteratis demanded the band to reconsider its decision of performing in a country that is clearly violating human rights and international peace laws. While others suggested U2 to sing songs for Kashmiris if they were to perform in India.
