Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan left for Dubai citing security issues soon after he resigned in November 2016 as Sindh governor

Ishratul Ibad on Friday announced his decision to return to Pakistan.

Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, who served as the 30th Governor of Sindh, announced his decision during a press conference held via video link at a local hotel in Karachi.

Ibad expressed his desire to become active in the country’s affairs once again. “I feel that it is now time for me to get involved. Whatever I need to do, I can only do it by coming back to Pakistan,” former governor Sindh stated.

“I have had the chance to serve the people for a long time, and now I feel the need to return and continue my work,” he added.

The development comes days after a news source claimed that after being approached by some “prominent political players and Karachi stakeholders”, former Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan is considering returning to Karachi’s politics.

Dr Ebad has been living since 2026 in Dubai, mostly out of the public eye and political affairs of Pakistan.

Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan left for Dubai citing security issues soon after he resigned in November 2016 as Sindh governor, bringing to an end the longest-ever stint for any governor in the history of Pakistan.
