Israel-Iran Ceasefire in Doubt: Tehran Denies Violation as Israel Launches Missile Strikes Amid Renewed Hostilities

Trump Claims Iran and Israel Have Agreed to a Ceasefire

Following a brief and fragile ceasefire declared by US President Donald Trump between Israel and Iran, hostilities rapidly resumed amid mutual accusations of violations:

  • Israel accused Iran of violating the ceasefire after its military detected missile launches from Iranian territory and subsequently ordered “intense strikes” on targets in Tehran.

  • Tehran denied these accusations, with Iranian officials stating they had not agreed to a formal ceasefire and insisting any military actions were in response to ongoing Israeli aggression.

  • Missile exchanges continued: Iran launched a series of missiles at Israel, killing at least four people in Beersheba, and also targeted a US base in Qatar in retaliation for earlier US and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities

Key Claims and Responses

Israeli Position:

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz on Tuesday stated that Iran had breached the newly announced ceasefire by launching missiles at Israel, prompting him to order forceful military retaliation against Tehran.

The Israeli military confirmed it had targeted “regime assets and government oppression entities in the heart of Tehran,” including command centres of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Israel maintained that it had agreed to the ceasefire after achieving its objectives, but warned of a “fierce” response to any violations.

“In light of Iran’s blatant violation of the ceasefire declared by the president of the United States — through the launch of missiles toward Israel — and in accordance with the Israeli government’s policy to respond forcefully to any breach, I have instructed the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) … to continue high-intensity operations targeting regime assets and terror infrastructure in Tehran,” he said.

Iranian Position:

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied the existence of a formal ceasefire agreement, clarifying that Iran would halt its attacks only if Israel ceased its airstrikes by a specific deadline.

Araghchi stated, “As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations,” but signalled a willingness to stop military actions if Israeli attacks ended.

Iranian state media and officials rejected Israeli claims of a ceasefire violation, asserting their actions were defensive and in response to continued Israeli aggression.

Iran also accused the US and Israel of fabricating pretexts for war and violating international law.

Israel’s military warned that “danger persists” despite the government earlier announcing it had agreed to a ceasefire with Iran on the 12th day of war between the foes, as reported by AFP.

“The Chief of Staff instructed all of the army to maintain a high level of alertness and preparedness for a powerful response to any violation of the ceasefire,” army spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said in a televised press conference.

“I want to stress that at this stage, there is no change to the Home Front command instructions. The instructions must be obeyed. The danger persists.”

Trump Claims Iran and Israel Have Agreed to a Ceasefire

U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran and Israel have agreed to a ceasefire.

Speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump said, “There will be no further war; the Iranians have weakened.”

In a statement released on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump said, “Congratulations to everyone! A complete ceasefire has been agreed upon between Israel and Iran.”

Trump stated that within the next 6 hours, both Iran and Israel will complete their ongoing missions, and the war will be considered over within the next 12 hours.

The U.S. President said that the ceasefire will begin with Iran, and in the 12th hour, Israel will also begin its ceasefire. Then, 24 hours later, the ’12-day war’ will officially end, and the world will applaud this development.

Trump added that during the ceasefire, the other side will remain peaceful and respectful. “I would like to congratulate both countries for showing courage and intelligence to end this war (which should be called the 12-day war).”

President Trump remarked that this was a war that could have lasted for years and destroyed the entire Middle East — but that did not happen, and now it never will. “May God have mercy on Israel, Iran, the Middle East, America, and the entire world.”

According to Pakistani time, Iran is expected to begin the ceasefire from 9:00 AM.

Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official has said that Iran has accepted the proposal for a ceasefire with Israel.

According to the senior Iranian official, Iran agreed to the ceasefire with Israel through Qatari mediation and an American proposal.

However, Israel has not yet issued any formal response regarding the ceasefire agreement.
