Israeli Strike on a School in Central Gaza Claims at Least 17 Palestinian Lives
So far at least 42,519 Palestinians have been killed Israel's offensive on Gaza since Oct 7, 2023
At least 17 Palestinians, including children, were killed on Thursday in an Israeli airstrike on a school in the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, where individuals displaced by the ongoing conflict were seeking shelter, according to Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat.
On the other hand, the Israeli military stated that the strike targeted a Hamas command and control centre located within a compound that was previously used as a school in Nuseirat.
Furthermore, Israeli tanks targeted and set ablaze the only firefighting vehicle in the northern Gaza Strip using their shells.
Hopes that the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar might create a path toward ending the conflict have so far been unmet, despite international calls urging Israel to seize the opportunity.
In the northern part of the enclave, where weeks-long military operations have targeted areas around Jabalia, the Israeli military reported evacuating large numbers of civilians and detaining over 200 suspected fighters.
“Instead of moving towards a ceasefire, the war has reignited in northern Gaza. We are under siege, being starved, and hunted from the air and by tanks,” one Jabalia resident told Reuters via a messaging app.
