Israeli Tourist and Homestay Operator Gang-Raped in India’s Karnataka

The police have filed a case under rape and robbery charges and are conducting a search operation to arrest the accused

In a shocking incident in Karnataka, India, an Israeli tourist and a local homestay owner were gang-raped by three men.

A 27-year-old Israeli tourist and a 29-year-old Indian homestay operator were allegedly gang-raped while stargazing with three male companions—tourists from the United States, Odisha, and Maharashtra.

The tragic incident unfolded on the night of March 6, 2025, near Sanapur Lake, close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi in Karnataka, India, where the victims had gone for stargazing.

The attackers, who arrived on a motorcycle, initially demanded money from the group, which included an American tourist and two others from Maharashtra and Odisha.

When the group refused, the attackers pushed three men into the canal, resulting in the death of one man from Odisha.

The Israeli tourist and the homestay owner were then raped.

As reported, while the tourists from the United States and Maharashtra managed to escape, the tourist from Odisha went missing and was later found dead.

The two women are currently receiving medical treatment, and local authorities have launched an investigation to apprehend the suspects.
