As being reported Sharat Chandra in 2017 announced the remake of Arth with South actress Revathi playing one of the leads.

Written and directed by Mahesh Bhatt Arth was a semi-autobiographical film, about his extramarital relationship with Parveen Babi.

The original film was applauded for the storyline and strong performances, starring Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Raj Kiran and Rohini Hattangadi in lead roles.

The storyline of the film Arth circled around Pooja (Shabana Azmi) whose heart breaks when she finds out about her husband Inder (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) has fallen in love with another woman Kavita (Smita Patil). It leads Pooja to embark on a journey to find her true identity while Kavita, who feels guilty and insecure, breaks up with Inder.

The film released in 1982 was ahead of its time as it showed that a woman doesn’t need a man or marriage to feel secure and complete.

Further details are being awaited, but it will be interesting to see Jacqueline Fernandez reprising Smita Patil’s role. She is currently gearing up for her upcoming film Drive alongside Sushant Singh Rajput.
