Jahangir Tareen to form a new national-level political party, sources

Sources claim that Jahangir Tareen will be patron-in-chief of the new party

Jahangir Tareen is to form a new national-level political party, sources claim that the formal launching will be taking place in the very near future.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) estranged leader Jahangir Khan Tareen after remaining out of the scene, is making his comeback to Pakistan politics.

Sources privy to the development claim that PTI leaders upset with the party and its leadership are also expected to join the new setup.

Political families from South Punjab are likely to join the new party whose patron-in-chief will be Jahangir Tareen.

Tareen was the secretary general of the PTI and his efforts proved critical as they helped Khan secure the prime ministership in 2018, despite the disqualification.

He was ousted from politics in 2017 after the Supreme Court disqualified him for being “dishonest” on a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi.

Earlier in January, it was reported that Aleem Khan and Jahangir Tareen along with other PTI dissidents were planning to launch a new party.

Later in March 2013, it was reported that the splinter group named “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Nazriyati (PTIN) or Haqeeqi Tehreek-e-Insaaf (HTI)” would be formed to contest the upcoming elections.
