Joe Biden tests negative for COVID-19 following Donald Trump’s positive test

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, tested negative for COVID-19 on Friday, his personal doctor reported, following US President Donald Trump revealed that he had contracted the lethal infection just days after the first debate.

“Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden underwent Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for COVID-19 today and COVID-19 was not detected. I am reporting this out in my capacity as both Vice President Biden and Dr. Biden’s primary care physician,” Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, said in a statement released by Biden’s campaign.

“Thank you to everyone for your messages of concern,” Biden said on Twitter, “I hope this serves as a reminder: wear a mask, keep social distance, and wash your hands.”

On the other hand, US President Trump is suffering “mild symptoms” after he and first lady Melania Trump contracted coronavirus, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told reporters Friday.

Melania Trump said on Twitter that she, too, has “mild symptoms” but is “overall feeling good.” Trump will postpone or make virtual all of his previously scheduled campaign events, his campaign manager said.

Meanwhile, Biden will continue with his scheduled visit Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Friday, for a speech focused on the economy.
