Johnny Depp dropped off from Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise

Johnny Depp, the star of one of the biggest money-spinning franchise, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, will no longer be seen as the iconic Captain Jack Sparrow. According to the latest reports, he has been dropped by Disney from future films. The news has surfaced as there are reports that Disney Studios is planning a major reboot for the franchise.

The 55 years old actor, 55, has so far starred in five films of the Pirates Of the Caribbean franchise, over the past 15 years. But, now with this latest development it seems that he has already made his last appearance as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Original scriptwriter Stuart Beattie appeared to confirm the news while talking to a publication that Disney has plans to rework the franchise.

Talking about Depp’s character he said, “I think he’s had a great run. Obviously, he’s made that character his own and it’s become the character he’s most famous for now. And kids all over the world love him as that character. So I think it’s been great for him, it’s been great for us, so I’m just very, very happy about it.”

“I think Jack Sparrow will be his legacy. It’s the only character he’s played five times, it’s the character he dresses up in to visit children in hospitals, it’s what he’ll be remembered for. Before Jack Sparrow came along, [Depp] was considered this kind of quirky, independent actor that made these really cool little Tim Burton films, but he was by no means a movie star and a lot of people thought we were crazy for casting him at the time. Because he wasn’t a proven commodity; you know, a big movie star. And we were making a big movie and we were putting this quirky, independent actor in the middle of it and people thought we were crazy. The fact that it worked is a miracle. They were certainly nervous watching the rushes everyday but when it all came together, something just clicked and it was magic and connected with audiences. I’m proud to be a part of it”, he added further.

Stuart Beattie, will also not be working on the new films. He added, “There’s that saying, ‘don’t frown because it’s over, smile because it happened. The fact they’re rebooting something that you did means that you did something that is worth rebooting. I tend to look at it as the glass half full and I just think it’s an honour to be rebooted”.

While further details are being awaited about this decision. The news is shocking for the Captain Jack Sparrow fans. It is actually going to be the end of an era. It is a fact that Depp has performed so well creating the iconic character of Captain Jack Sparrow. No matter how great actor he is but lately, Depp’s personal life has made headlines over the past few years.
