K-Electric Sends Power Rates Increase Request to NEPRA

On the back of price adjustment for last year, Karachi Electric has sent a request to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for an increase in per-unit rates of power, reported Geo News.

As per the news outlet, K-Electric has sought approval on new tariffs which will up the per-unit price by Rs0.37 and Rs1.44 to adjust for April-June 2019 and July-September 2019 period respectively.

Similarly, the private power distribution company has requested for a fuel price adjustment for the second half of 2020. In order to achieve the desired outcome, K-Electric has requested an increase per unit by Rs0.13, Rs0.78, Rs0.40, Rs0.19, Rs0.90, and Rs2.35 for the month of July, August, September, October, November, and December respectively.

A hearing on K-Electric’s request would be held in Islamabad on March 4, Geo News reported a NEPRA official.
