Karachi Anti-Encroachment Operation: Police fires tear gas to disperse people as protest turned violent

The ongoing anti-encroachment operation in Karachi turned violent on Thursday when police had to fire tear gas at people protesting the demolitions in metropolis’s Gulistan-e-Johar area.

Reportedly the demonstrators were enraged at the authorities for poorly handling anti-encroachment drive.

Anti-encroachment demolitions were being conducted in Gulistan-e-Johar Blocks 10 and 11 of the KDA Scheme 36  neighborhood, that turned violent and protested also set a police vehicle on fire.

As being reported, a large contingents of police officers in riot gear, shields, and batons charged at the protesters after the police vehicle was burned down, and started firing tear gas in order to disperse the demonstrators.
