Karachi Braces for Rain, Gusty Winds, and Thunderstorms Today

Humidity levels are currently high, with the latest readings at 73%, contributing to the muggy conditions.

Karachi is set to experience a shift in weather as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms in various parts of the city on Monday (today).

After enduring several days of intense heat, residents can expect some relief, though the weather will remain humid and partly cloudy over the next 24 hours, according to the Met Office.

Weather Details and Forecast

  • The PMD anticipates showers and thunderstorms at different locations across Karachi, with gusty winds likely to accompany the rainfall, especially in peripheral areas.
  • The maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to range between 36°C and 38°C, while the minimum recorded in the last 24 hours was 30°C.
  • Humidity levels are currently high, with the latest readings at 73%, contributing to the muggy conditions.
  • Warm winds are blowing from the northwest at a speed of around 3 km/h, and gusty conditions are expected to intensify during rainfall events.

The PMD attributes the changing weather to a westerly system affecting the upper regions of Pakistan and moisture-laden winds entering Sindh from the east.

This has led to scattered rain predictions not only for Karachi but also for other districts in Sindh, including Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin, between June 16 and 17.
