A policeman was shot at and injured by unidentified men in yet another incident of firing in Korangi No 5 area of Karachi on Saturday
According to a statement released by police, Constable Asghar Ahmed was going to his duty when the unknown gunmen on a motorcycle targeted him and opened fire from the back.
After Asghar fell from his motorcycle, the assailants fired at him again, according to the statement of SP Korangi Faisal Abdullah.
The attackers took away the cop’s personal weapon, as observed in the prior incidents of target attacks, and fled from the spot, the SP said, adding that the incident seems to be of target-killing.
The policeman was wearing a casual shirt over his police uniform at the time he came under the attack, the SP mentioned.
The injured policeman suffered three bullets wounds on his leg while one bullet pierced through his stomach but he was stated to be out of danger. He is receiving medical treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
The SP Korangi futher told that an inquiry has been initiated against the organised attack on police.
