Karachi police chief cautions citizens not to resist robbers during mugging!

The advice from the Additional Inspector General of Police Jawed Alam Odho was shared on Friday as he talked to the press about the recent shooting incident that led to the death of a NED student for resisting robbery while being mugged. 

AIG police also claimed that one of the two robbers, who had shot dead a 21-year-old student — Bilal Nasir — of the NED University of Engineering and Technology, has been arrested.

The victim was the youngest among four brothers and lived in Dastagir Society in Federal B Area.

The Karachi police chief has formed an investigation team headed by the District East senior superintendent of police (SSP) following the incident.

The investigation team with the help of CCTV footage and other evidence raided a locality in Afghan Basti on Friday morning. During the raid there was an exchange of fire, however, police arrested a suspect, Nizamuddin, in an injured state while his accomplice managed to escape.

Karachi police chief also discussed the rising cases of sexual assaults on children during his press briefing.

According to the Karachi police chief during the last two months, there had been an increase in such incidents, and in some of them, children were also killed after being raped.

During November and December, 22 incidents of sexual assaults on children were reported, and children were raped and killed in four of them, he stated.

Furthermore, Karachi police had arrested 21 suspects involved in 19 of the reported incidents, and investigations in the remaining three cases were underway.
