Karachi Rain: All private schools to remain closed on Thursday as thunderstorm lashes metropolis

The new spell of monsoon rains has left the metropolis once again drenched in water.

Keeping in view the conditions, All Sindh Private Schools’ Association made an announcement on Wednesday night that all private schools in Karachi will remain closed on Thursday.

The association’s president, Mr. Haider Ali, said that the decision is taken as it will be difficult for children and teachers to reach school due to the rain.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, this new spell of monsoon rains in Karachi is expected to continue till Friday. The recent spell is due to low pressure over the Bay of Bengal.

The PMD said, “Monsoon currents are penetrating southern parts of the country”.

The rain which started in the afternoon has left the roads of Karachi inundated with many overflown gutters.

As being reported North Karachi area received the most rain, recorded to be 32 mm. The University Road received 19 mm, Surjani Road 12 mm, Jinnah Terminal 9mm, Landhi 8mm, Nazimabad 2mm, and Saddar 28 mm.

K-Electric has temporarily suspended power supply to multiple areas of Karachi as soon as the rain started on Wednesday afternoon.

As being reported, power was restored after five hours but suspended again after 9 pm once again after a heavy downpour.
