Karachi: 103 restaurants, 6 marriage halls sealed for not following COVID-19 guidelines

In Karachi 103 restaurants and 6 marrige have been sealed for failing to comply with health guidelines and COVID-19 prevalence, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

Federal Minister Asad Umar on Friday has warned that the  indoor restaurants were emerging as “high contributors to the COVID-19 spread”, as the authorities closed down six marriage halls and more than 100 restaurants in Karachi.

We must not allow irresponsible behaviour of some to put the health of everyone at risk“, federal minister stated in a tweet.

In a statement, issued on Friday NCOC said that all provinces — as well as Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Islamabad Capital Territory — have been instructed to ensure the implementation of health guidelines and protocols for public health and safety.

Authorities have also been urged to crackdown on violations “particularly in restaurants and marriage halls as these two places are emerging as epicentres of the disease”, the statement added.
