A revenue official (Mukhtiarkar) was shot dead while four others were injured in firing incident during an anti-encroachment operation in Surjani Town on Monday.
As reported, an anti encroachment operation was underway to vacate the lands of Saylani Welfare Trust on orders of the cour in Surjani town’s area.
A government official was killed and four others, including three policemen, sustained injuries due to firing and stone throwing by alleged land grabbers during an anti-encroachment operation.
Unidentified persons then opened fire on the government officials, injuring a revenue official, Manghopir Mukhtiarkar Aijaz Ahmad Chandio, and his driver Saeed Alam.
The injured were rushed to a private hospital situated on the Stadium Road where Chandio succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
A heavy contingent of police and the Rangers reached the scene as soon as the incident was reported.
According to the Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho, the violent incident is being investigated and the perpetrators would be arrested.
