Karachi Traffic Police Unveils Comprehensive Plan for Safe New Year Celebrations

The Karachi Traffic Police have implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan for the New Year celebrations, focusing on safety and efficient route management.

Here are the key details:

Road Closures and Access Points

• Closed Roads:
  • The road from Akhtar Colony via Khayaban-e-Ittehad to Sea View will be completely closed to all traffic.
  • The route from Do Talwar to Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s shrine and 26th Street will also be inaccessible.
• Alternative Access:
  • For those heading to Sea View or nearby areas, access will be permitted via 26th Street.
  • However, the road from PIDC Chowk to Club Road will be blocked for traffic.
• Heavy Vehicle Restrictions:
  • Heavy vehicles are prohibited on Mahi Kolachi through Manipur Road and Jinnah Bridge.
• Additional Closures:
  • Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road will be closed for traffic up to Lucky Signal, alongside the previously mentioned PIDC Chowk to Club Road closure.

Safety Measures

• The authorities have emphasized strict enforcement against vehicles and motorcycles lacking silencers, as well as measures against reckless driving.
• Due to the imposition of Section 144, a complete ban on aerial firing and fireworks will be in effect for two days from December 31 to January 1, 2025. Violators face severe penalties, including potential charges of attempted murder for firing into the air.
