Karachi’s covid-19 positivity rate has surged to 18% on Tuesday.
In the last 24 hours, over 800 cases have surfaced in the metropolis city most of those of the Omicron variant.
In Karachi, the highest number of Omicron cases have been reported in District East at 43%.
In Sindh on Jan 11, 940 cases, and 1 death was reported, the highest in the country.
Sindh has recorded another 39 cases of the coronavirus’ Omicron variant on Monday, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
The statement said the cases were among 53 samples tested for the detection of the variant.
According to the statement, 75 percent of the new positive cases had a travel history.

He explained that the government is not imposing a lockdown but will have to take tough decisions if people don’t take precautionary measures.
Pakistan on Tuesday has reported 1,467 new coronavirus cases.
A day earlier country reported 1,649 cases, taking the tally to 1,307,174.
According to NCOC, the nationwide positivity rate stands at 3.3 percent.
