Karachi’s COVID positivity rate has surged to 28.8%!
Karachi has the highest coronavirus positivity rate in the country on Friday, according to data from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
A total of 7,226 tests were conducted in the metropolis, of which 2,081 came back positive, amounting to a 28.8% positivity rate, up from 20.4% a day earlier.
The cases of Omicron in Karachi are increasing the Sindh health department officials said.
The coronavirus has been diagnosed in 2081 patients in 24 hours in Karachi.
Amongst the reported cases, 95% of patients are affected by the Omicron variant.
The city’s positivity rate on December 31 stood at 4.74pc.
On the other hand, Lahore has the second-highest positivity rate at 9.6%, followed by Islamabad at 5.5%.
The positivity rate in all other major cities remains below 5%, according to the NCOC data.
Pakistan sees a gradual rise in reported coronavirus cases that includes fresh cases of Omicron variant as well.
On Friday, Pakistan has reported 3,571 new coronavirus cases up from 3,015 a day earlier, taking the country’s tally to 1,315,834.
While the national COVID positivity rate has risen to 7.4%
