Khadija Shah is ‘still in jail’, CM Punjab confirms

Credible sources confirm Khadijah Shah made the video apology in question before her arrest.

Khadija Shah, a Pakistani fashion designer and the prime suspect in the Jinnah House attack, is still in jail, the confirmation was made by Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The clarification arrives on Sunday following social media buzzing with claims about her release.

It all started with a video message of the designer apologizing for her actions on May 9 appeared on social media a day ago.

Several users complained about Shah being given preferential treatment due to her apparent release, however, the provincial chief minister refuted the claims.

She is reported to be still in Kot Lakhpat Jail.



Khadija Shah is still in jail and her identity parade was ongoing, Caretaker CM Punjab said.

He added that this while responding to a question about the designer’s whereabouts days after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) handed her over to the police.

Last week, the ATC handed over Khadija Shah into Police custody on its request for an identification parade in jail till May 30, after she was brought to the court with her face covered in a black cloth.


The designer, who is a prominent supporter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), will be presented before the ATC on May 30 again.

Following her arrest, Shah was transferred to a women’s police station.

Sources, privy to the case, shared that the PTI supporter would be investigated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anush Masood.
