PIA names acting CEO as it prepares to resume European flights

Khurram Mushtaq was appointed as the acting CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday.

This decision was made during a meeting of the PIA Board of Directors. Mushtaq’s appointment comes amid ongoing efforts to stabilize and improve the airline’s operations and management.

In a statement issued earlier in the day, the airline stated that Khurram Mushtaq, previously head of PIA’s Commercial, Airport Services, Flight Services, Security and Vigilance departments, would “take charge of the office after the tenure of Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat comes to an end”.

Earlier this week, PIA’s spokesperson said the airline expects to resume flights to Europe, starting with Paris, within the next three to four weeks, after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) lifted its ban.
