514 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Lahore - OyeYeah News
Lahore’s Covid-19 cases tally has crossed 2,000 mark after the city reported 334 new coronavirus cases on Saturday.
The total number of cases in Lahore is 2,154 with 55 reported coronavirus deaths.
According to Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, 514 new cases of the coronavirus were reported, taking the provincial tally to 6,854.
The province of Punjab has also reported nine more deaths taking the total number of fatalities to 115.
According to the department, 2206 people have recovered from the virus while 22 are in critical condition.
A total of 88,899 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the province so far.
Even with the surging coronavirus cases, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said that recommendations have been prepared for reopening industries and markets.
“Recommendations have also been prepared to be presented to the federal govt for reopening of markets. Our suggestion is to divide them into zones and open at different times,” Buzdar said.
He further added that industries that have their own housing colonies attached should also be opened.
Furthermore, Punjab Minister for Health Yasmin Rashid has said on Saturday that the government is working to fix everything that people have been complaining about at the Lahore Expo Centre field hospital.
It was a day ago, when a law and order situation occurred at the Expo Centre Field Hospital Lahore when some members of the Tableeghi Jamaat and other confirmed patients of the virus refused to stay at the centre and broke open the door in a bid to come out of the premises.
“There is a difference between normal and field hospitals. To put people into quarantine at a field hospital is a precautionary and preventive measure,” Rashid said.
“It has been set up people so they don’t go home and infect people. Patients who need critical care are taken to two big hospitals,” she added.
