The Lahore High Court on Saturday allowed former premier Nawaz Sharif to travel abroad for seeking medical treatment.
LHC has directed the federal government to remove Nawaz Sharif’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif had assured the high court that his elder brother Nawaz Sharif would return to Pakistan after getting treatment abroad, in a written undertaking.

After the government and the Sharif family failed to agree on the drafting on the terms of the draft, LHC created its own draft of the undertaking submitted by Shehbaz guaranteeing Nawaz’s return to the country after he recovers.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday had instructed former premier Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shehbaz Sharif to submit a written undertaking in regards to the PML-N supremo’s travel abroad for seeking medical treatment and his subsequent return to the country.
Following the court’s instructions, PML-N’s legal team submitted a two-page draft of the undertaking, stating that Nawaz Sharif will return to the country as soon as doctors abroad permit. The document further added that the former premier was leaving the country on the recommendations of local doctors.
A two-judge bench, comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem, heard the petition challenging the government’s condition of furnishing indemnity bonds in order to secure the removal of Nawaz’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
