LPG Tanker Explosion in Multan: Six Dead and Over 30 Injured in Industrial Estate Blaze

A devastating explosion occurred at an LPG tanker in Multan’s Industrial Estate early on Monday, resulting in six fatalities and 31 injuries, as confirmed by local authorities.
The incident took place during refilling operations at what has been identified as an illegal LPG refilling warehouse, where gas was being transferred from a large tanker to smaller containers.
The explosion triggered a massive fire, causing debris to scatter across nearby residential areas and leading to significant structural damage. At least 20 houses were completely destroyed, while around 70 others sustained partial damage.
Among the deceased are a minor girl and two women. Initially, five deaths were reported, but the toll rose after recovery operations revealed another victim.
Thirteen of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
Over ten firefighting vehicles were deployed to extinguish the flames, which took several hours to control. An emergency was declared at Nishtar Hospital to handle the influx of injured individuals.
The police investigation later disclosed that the incident occurred at an illegal LPG refilling warehouse, with the explosion happening during refilling operations.
As per the police, the LPG was being transferred from a large gas bowser to smaller bowsers and commercial cylinders at the site.
Additionally, the police reported that the large gas bowser was allegedly carrying smuggled LPG. They added that five small and large gas bowsers at the warehouse were destroyed in the explosion.
