Lt Gen Faiz Hameed and Lt Gen Azhar Abbas’s retirement approved

Lt Gen Faiz Hameed and Lt Gen Azhar Abbas’s retirements have been approved on Monday.

As reported, the federal cabinet has approved the retirement of Lt Gen Faiz Hameed and Lt Gen Azhar Abbas.

According to sources, the retirement of both officers has been approved through the circulation summary.

After the approval, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed will retire immediately while Lt Gen Azhar Abbas will retire on December 10.

As reported, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed is slated to retire in April next year however he decides to step down at the earliest. 

Lt Gen Faiz, who is currently serving as Corps Commander Bahawalpur, sent his application to the General Headquarters (GHQ) a few days ago, which was then forwarded to the prime minister for approval.

Lt Gen Faiz is a three-star general, whose name was among the six senior-most generals included by Army General Headquarters (GHQ) in the list of potential candidates for the two top military offices, sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for approval.
