Major Gold Deposit Worth Rs800 Billion Discovered in Attock, Punjab
The incumbent provincial Minister of Mines and Minerals Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani confirmed the discovery of 2.8 million tola gold.

A significant discovery of gold reserves has been announced in Attock, Punjab, with estimates valuing the deposit at approximately Rs800 billion.
This revelation, made by former Punjab Minister for Mines and Minerals Ibrahim Hassan Murad, claims that the Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP) has validated the presence of 2.8 million tolas of gold across a 32-kilometer stretch in the region.
Extensive research, including sampling from 127 locations, was conducted to confirm this finding, according to him.
The current Punjab Minister for Mines and Minerals, Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, has corroborated Murad’s claims, stating that the government is assessing the reserves’ true value, which he estimates could range from Rs600 billion to Rs800 billion on the global market.
The discovery has sparked optimism regarding its potential to revitalize Pakistan’s economy, particularly amid ongoing financial challenges.
In response to the discovery, the provincial government has imposed Section 144 in the area to prevent illegal mining and theft of gold. Plans are underway for an auction of the gold reserves within a month, with rules being developed and a committee established to oversee the process.
If verified and managed properly, this gold discovery could play a crucial role in addressing Pakistan’s economic difficulties by generating revenue and creating job opportunities in the Attock region.
