Malala is deeply concerned about Afghan women and minorities as Taliban take control

Malala is deeply concerned about Afghan women and minorities as the Taliban take control!

Education activist and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai took to social media on Sunday to express her concerns over the development in Afghanistan.

“We watch in complete shock as the Taliban takes control of Afghanistan. I am deeply worried about women, minorities, and human rights advocates. Global, regional and local powers must call for an immediate ceasefire, provide urgent humanitarian aid and protect refugees and civilians,” she tweeted.

Earlier in the day, the Taliban had surrounded Afghanistan’s capital Kabul as the group and government officials were engaged in talks which resulted in an understanding among political factions, a new interim government would be reportedly established in the country.

On 9 October 2012, a Taliban gunman shot Malala Yousafzai as she rode home on a bus after taking an exam in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.

The activist and advocate for human rights was 15 years old at that time.
