Aap News, Lahore based Urdu news channel run by real estate tycoon Malik Riaz has been shut down with immediate effect.

The closing down of the channel leaves hundreds of journalists and technicians jobless.

As being reported, the staff will get a month salary and additionally half salary for the next 3 months.

Malik Riaz has promised to give preference to Aap staff when he launches his own channel.

The reason for closing down the channel is sited as the financial constraints.
