Former President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain passed away on Wednesday in Karachi.
According to his son Arsalan Mehmood, Hussain, 80, was admitted to a private hospital. He has been unwell for the past few weeks.
He was suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the last two weeks.
Pakistani politician and industrialist Mamoon Hussain served as the 12th President of Pakistan, in office from 2013 to 2018.
He was first appointed as Governor of Sindh in June 1999 by President Rafiq Tarar but was removed from the post a few months later due to the 1999 military coup d’état.
He started his political career in 1969 with association with Muslim League.
He was appointed joint secretary of the Karachi chapter of the League when former minister of state for foreign affairs Zain Noorani was its president.
He held an MBA degree from the prestigious Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.
