Man affected with Congo Virus, dies in Karachi

A patient affected with Congo Virus has died after battling with the lethal fever at a private hospital on Sunday, sources told.

According to sources, the 27-year-old adolescent was the resident of Landhi area. The young man was shifted to the private hospital where even after treatment, did not recover from the viral fever and died ultimately.

The deceased had tested positive for Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) was critical due to low platelets count, hospitals sources said.

Hospital sources said the recent was the fifth case of lethal viral infection in the ongoing year that has died due to complications of fever.

The patients of the viral infection are kept in isolation wards to prevent other patients, doctors and hospital staff from spreading the infected virus.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO), Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a lethal viral infection causes severe ‘viral haemorrhagic fever outbreaks.’ The virus is primarily transmitted to people from ticks and livestock animals. There is no vaccine available for either people or animals.
