For the first time in over a year and a half, covid precautions were abolished at the Masjid al–Haram during fajr prayers on Sunday.
Major restrictions and precautionary measures have been abolished, as the Grand Mosque returns to full capacity.
“For the first time in over a year, the Imam at Masjid Al Haram instructed pilgrims to straighten [the] rows and close the gaps during Fajr prayer,” the Haramain official Twitter account shared the iconic moments for the Muslims around the world.
After one and a half years of COVID-19 restrictions, the worshippers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah in Saudi Arabia offered the Fajr (dawn) prayer without social distancing from Sunday.
The Ministry of Interior on Friday announced that the Haramain Sharifain will return to full capacity from Sunday, 11 Rabi Al Awwal 1443 corresponding to 17 October 2021, Sunday.
