Massive fire engulfs Lahore’s Hafeez Centre

A massive fire has engulfed Lahore’s Hafeez Centre located at Gulberg’s main boulevard area on Sunday early morning.

As being reported, the fire brigade was called soon after the fire broke out around 6:00 am in the morning.

According to the Rescue officials stated that the initial survey suggested that the fire broke out due to a short circuit, further adding that a definite reason will come to light after submission of a detailed report.

According to the eyewitnesses, the fire started on the second floor of the building here laptops, mobile phones, and other electronic items are sold on Sunday morning and gradually spread to the fourth floor.

Twelve fire brigades and 30 firefighters were engaged to put out the fire.

A number of officials including Lahore Commissioner Zulfiqar Ghuman, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mudassir Riaz, and Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh, reached the site.

DC  Lahore who was leading the rescue efforts, while talking to the media, said the fire has been brought under control to a significant extent and added that the focus was now on parts of the building still on fire.

“Workers from Rescue 1122 and fire department are present at the site and are working on putting out the fire. Snorkels are also present and all resources will be utilised,” he added.

Chief Minister Punjab  Usman Buzdar took notice of the incident and directed that authorities use all resources to put out the fire.
