Maulana Tariq Jameel brushes off a fake Twitter profile attributing a false statement to him.
The fake account had shared a statement lamenting the authorities for using tear gas at protestors in the federal capital, Islamabad during a government employees’ protest a day ago.
Taking it to social media, Maulana Tariq shared the screenshot of a fake account in a tweet and said: “I have nothing to do with this statement. This is fake news. For authentic news about me, stay connected to the verified platform.”
“May Allah preserve us from spreading false news,” he added.
The statement that was being attributed to the Islamic scholar, from the fake profile had called out the government over yesterday’s employees protest in Islamabad in which tear gas shells were fired and protesters.
