In the wake of emerging cases of coronavirus in the province, a “micro smart lockdown” has been imposed by the Sindh government on Wednesday in several areas of Karachi to contain the spread of the highly contagious disease.
As per the notification issued by the provincial government, the micro smart lockdown has been imposed in various areas of District West in the metropolis.
As per the notification, public gatherings, transportation, and pillion riding of any kind are strictly not allowed in the lockdown localities.
The areas included Manghopir Union Council 8 and Gadap Town of district West has been put under restriction after more than 20 cases were reported from the said localities.

The Sindh government has also deployed police personnel in these areas to implement the lockdown measures directing the deputy commissioner and senior police officials in Karachi to ensure micro smart lockdowns and implementation of SOPs at designated areas.
Earlier, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Sohail Rajput chaired a meeting on Wednesday to tackle the pandemic situation in the business hub of Pakistan as the coronavirus cases have resurfaced.
He told that the authorities will close the marriage hall and restaurants on the violations of proposed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Commissioner Karachi has also directed district commissioners to manage the activities in their respective areas asking for the inspection of restaurants and marriage halls to check whether coronavirus SOPs are being observed or not.
During the past 24 hours, the novel coronavirus has claimed two more lives and infected at least 311 people in Sindh.
