Missing poet Ahmad Farhad turned out to be in AJK police custody!

On Wednesday, the federal government told the Islamabad High Court that poet and journalist Ahmad Farhad who has been missing since May 14 from Islamabad is in Azad Kashmir police custody.

It is also revealed that the case that led to his arrest was filed on Wednesday morning.

During a hearing on the case seeking Farhad’s recovery, Attorney General Mansoor Awan informed the Islamabad High Court that Farhad is named in a First Information Report (FIR) filed in District Bagh, Azad Kashmir, and is currently in police custody.

The FIR states that on May 29 at 7:00 AM, a car carrying Farhad was stopped at a police checkpoint when police officers asked for identification, Farhad, whose real name is revealed as Farhad Ali Shah, allegedly engaged in “misconduct and abusive language” towards the officers.

Farhad was travelling from Rawalpindi to his village in Kashmir. The case filed against him is for “interference with government affairs” stemming from his alleged misconduct at the checkpoint.
