The prolonged power breakdown has also affected the power supply to the towers of telecom companies, due to which mobile and internet services are being affected.
Towers of several telecom companies have run out of fuel that is used for the backup supply to generate power to run the services.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) updated consumers about the issues.
PTA has directed companies to “inform their respective subscribers accordingly and to make optimal efforts for refuelling of the generators on a maximum number of sites”.
“PTA is working with operators to provide uninterrupted services across the country,” the authority wrote in its tweet.
NetBlocks — a global internet monitor, also confirmed that their network data showed a significant decline in internet access in Pakistan amid the power outage across the country.
