Muharram 2021: Ashura to be observed on Aug 19 in Pakistan

Youm e Ashura will be observed in Pakistan on August 19, Thursday.

The crescent of the first month of the Islamic calendar was sighted on Monday evening, marking the first of Muharram on 10 August.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met in Quetta, Balochistan for the sighting of the Muharram-ul-Haram moon.

The sighting of the moon marks the beginning of the new Islamic year, 1443 AH.

Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Moulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad presided over the meeting, which is taking place at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Quetta.

Meanwhile, the representatives from the Central and Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees, Pakistan Meteorological Department officials, Ministry of Science and Technology, and Ministry of Religious Affairs and Harmony were also in attendance in the meeting.
