Mystery fever in India claims 12 more lives of children in 24hrs – total death toll at 68.

As being reported, intense viral fever has swept parts of western Uttar Pardesh claiming 68 lives, including 40 children, over the past week. 

 The symptoms reported in most of the patients included high fever, dehydration, and a sudden drop in platelet count. While others had dengue symptoms and passed away during treatment. 

According to the Indian media, a high number of cases have been reported from Agra, Mathura, Mainpuri, Etah, and Kasganj districts, while Firozabad district remains to be most affected by the mysterious fever.

Another 12 children succumbed to the “mystery fever” in Firozabad district in the last 24 hours, health department officials said on Sunday.

At the Firozabad medical college where 72 children out of 135 are battling for life.

Over 50% of them have dengue symptoms, officials added.

Some of the districts in Utter Pardesh have been witnessing a spike in cases of ‘Scrub typhus’, also known as bush typhus, claims media report.

It is a disease caused by a bacteria called ‘Orientia tsutsugamushi’ and spreads to people through bites of infected chiggers (larval mites).
