NCOC bans all processions on Yaum-i-Ali amid worsening coronavirus situation

The National Command and Control Centre, NCOC, has banned all processions on Yaum-i-Ali amid the worsening coronavirus situation across the country.

However, majalis have been permitted to be held while strictly observing standard operating procedures (SOPs) already in place for Ramazan, the forum said in a statement. 

The decision was taken on Saturday in an important meeting at the NCOC chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar.

Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed, Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, and SAPM on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan also were also in attendance at the session while the provincial secretaries and representatives of law enforcement agencies participated through video link.

“Keeping in view the risk factor due to the ongoing surge in COVID spread across the country and particularly in major urban centres, it was decided to ban all sort of processions while holding of Majalis has been permitted under strict COVID SOPs which are already in place for Ramazan ul Mubarik,” read the NCOC statement issued after the meeting.

21 Ramzan-ul-Mubarak,  is observed as Youm-e-Shahadat of Hazrat Ali  (r.a).
