NCOC bans interprovincial road travel on weekends

Interprovincial road travel banned!!

The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) has banned interprovincial road travel on weekends.

The decision was announced on Sunday comes as the country recorded more than 5,000 coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.

“It has been decided to ban interprovincial transport for two days a week (Saturday and Sunday) with effect from April 10, at 12 am, to April 25, 12:59 am,”  NCOC said in a statement.

However, goods, freight, medical, and other emergency services will be exempted from the travel restriction.

While the Pakistan Railway will continue to operate 7 days a week with 70% occupancy.

Furthermore, the NCOC will review this travel ban on April 20.

The Sindh government had been a strong proponent of banning inter-provincial transport for two weeks.

Earlier in the day, the provincial government has announced a suspension of physical classes in all private and government schools across the province till grade 8 for 15 days.

Students’ education will continue through online classes, homework, and other means during this period in Sindh.

The third wave of the coronavirus continues to intensify its grip across the country.

Pakistan on Sunday has reported 5,020  fresh coronavirus cases and 81 deaths, while the positivity rate during the past 24 hours stood at 9.02 percent.

Keep in mind earlier NCOC to take decision about closure of educational institutes on April 6.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his televised question and answer session on Sunday, has also urged the citizens to wear masks and follow SOPs to curb the spread of the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
