Closure of Educational Institutes!!

National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) will take the decision about the closure of educational institutes on April 6, informs Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood.

In a Tweet shared on Sunday Mahmood said: “Education and Health Ministers will meet at the NCOC Tuesday to decide whether to open or further close educational institutions.”

“The exam situation will also be discussed. Whatever is decided will be a collective decision of the country’s health and education authorities & NCOC,” he added.

On the other hand, the Sindh government is reviewing its policy on the closure of schools amid a surge in coronavirus cases across the province.

A day earlier, Education Minister Saeed Ghani chaired a meeting of a steering committee in which two proposals regarding the closure of schools in the province were presented.

As per the source, some members of the steering committee suggested closing schools in Sindh for up to eighth grade and continue classes for students of classes nine till 12.

Another proposal suggested closing schools for 15 days.

Sources quote that some members of the steering committee, however, opposed the closure of all schools.

While talking to a news channel after the meeting, the Sindh education minister confirmed that two different proposals to close or keep schools open had been discussed in the meeting.

Saeed Ghani said that he will present both proposals to the National Command and Operation Centre.

Ghani also refuted media reports regarding a change in school timings for Ramadan.

He said there was no discussion on such a topic.
