The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday has approved a Rs1.62 per unit increase in power tariff due to fuel adjustments during the second and third quarter of last year’s financial year.
According to the details, NEPRA decided to increase the price on account of two quarterly adjustments from October 2019 to March 2020.The price of electricity has been raised by Rs 1.62 per unit, as per the power regulatory authority.
The power regulatory authority has approved to impose an additional burden of Rs 73 billion on electricity consumers for the second quarter of FY 2019-20 (October-December) and Rs 91.80 billion for the third quarter (January-March).

The decision to increase the power tariff will be implemented after a notification issued by the government.
However, NEPRA’s decision will not apply to K-Electric consumers. It may be recalled that NEPRA had reserved its decision after conducting a hearing on the matter.
