The season 3 of Stranger Things has been watched by over 40 million subscribers on Netflix in less than a week of its premiere, reveals the streaming giant on Tuesday.
According to the streamer, 18 million viewers have completed watching the entire third season, which made its debut on July 4th.
Netflix tweeted: “@Stranger_Things 3 is breaking Netflix records!”.
“40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season,” it further added.
It has been only recently that Netflix has selectively started sharing its viewership data, after being tight-lipped for about years.
Stranger Things season 3 has also been appreciated by the critics for its fast-paced storyline as well as its twists and turns, including the death of a major character in the end.
Created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, the series revolves around the lives of four adolescent boys and their friends in Hawkins. A good portion of the show follows their adventures in another realm called the Upside Down.
Featuring star cast of Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, and Joe Keery, the first season of the show premiered in July 2016.
