New Zealand’s PM gets engaged to partner Clarke Gayford
New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern is finally engaged to her long-term television host partner Clarke Gayford.
Reports emerged on the international media revealed that the couple became engaged over the Easter holiday last month. Ardern was seen at a ceremony on Friday wearing a diamond ring on her middle finger of the left hand. CNN also confirmed the engagement.
The duo already have a baby who was born in June last year.
The couple made history when they came with their three-month-old daughter to the United Nations assembly hall during the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit in September.
Ardern’s partner is famous for his hosting for a television show
“I’m very, very lucky,” she told Radio NZ.
“I have a partner who can be there alongside me, who’s taking up a huge part of that joint responsibility because he’s a parent too, he’s not a babysitter.”
The couple first met at an awards event in 2012.
Jacinda Ardern is the second world leader after Benazir Bhutto who gives birth while serving as a Prime Minister.
The NZ PM gained accolades from around the world for her handling of the one of the worst crisis of New Zealand’s history — the terrorist’s attack in Christchurch mosques that killed 51 Muslims. Ms. Ardern introduced the guns laws reforms, wore Hijab and went door-to-door to meet victims’ families.
